Pauline Reader Dancers

Many of the Pauline Reader Dancers are members of GCSS and in the Summer they are to be found at Steam Fairs all over England. The Pauline Reader Dancers appeared again at the Elvaston Steam Rally, by popular demand. When the girls were first invited to appear in 1981, Pauline had been asked for a team of dancers to recreate the old time of bioscope show (an early form of cinema). In years gone by bioscope shows had ‘live’ entertainment in front to attract customers, usually in the form of dancing girls.Pauline was told that her dancers would be accompanied by a Gavioli .. ‘What on earth is a Gavioli?’ was her response. She had not yet encountered the great fair organs. However, since then her dancers have appeared at this event and have travelled throughout the country performing similar shows. This year teams are appearing at events in North Yorkshire, Nottingham, Leicester, Derbyshire and Suffolk, including the Great Dorset Steam Fair.In addition to all this summer work the girls to are in training for a spectacular production of the new hit musical ‘Will Rogers Follies’ which is to be presented by the Good Companions Stage Society at Derby Playhouse in November. They also performed with the East of England Orchestra in Derby. Their Cancan was featured on German TV recently.Hopefully, an AVI or two to follow soon.
